BULLETIN NO. 1.

Monday, The 21st September, 1970.

        The Assembly met at 10 A.M. The day was devoted to transaction of Government Business.

1.    OBITUARY REFERENCES :

        Reference to the demise of the following two notable personages was made by the Chief Minster and leader of the House :-

  (1) Shri P. Govinda Menon, Union Law Minister.
  (2) Shri Daying Ering, Union Deputy Minister of Food and Agriculture. 

        Shri Akramozzaman, M.L.A. on behalf of the Opposition group paid tribute to these two noble sons of India. The Speaker associated himself with the feelings expressed from both sides of the House and paid glowing tributes to the memory of the departed personalities and recalled their achievements and contributions for the cause of the Country.             

        The House stood in silence for a minute in respectful homage for the eternal rest of the souls.

2.    Report of the Business Advisory Committee.

        The Speaker reported the decision of the Business Advisory Committee settling the business of the current Session which met in 10th September, 1970 in his Chamber. The report was accepted by the House unanimously.

3.    Constitution of Committee.

        The Speaker announced the names of Members constituting the Panel of Chairmen for the current Session with the following Members :-

Mr. P. Ripple Kyndiah, M.L.A.

2.

Mr. Singjan Sangma, M.L.A.

3.

Mr. John Deng Pohrmen, M.L.A.

4.

Mr. Gilfred Singh Giri, M.L.A.

4.    Presentation of the Budget Estimates of the Government of Meghalaya for the year 1970-71.  

        Shri B.B. Lyngdoh, Minister of Finance presented the Budget Estimates of the Government of Meghalaya for the year 1970-71 and delivered his Budget Speech which took about 25 minutes.

ADJOURNMENT 

        As there was no more business for the day, the  House rose at 10.40 A.M. and stood adjourned till 10 A.M. on Tuesday, the 22nd September, 1970.
