        The Budget Session of the Meghalaya Legislative Assembly, 1972 commenced at 10 A.M.      

QUESTIONS

        Starred Questions Nos.1- 4 with supplementaries thereto were disposed of.

        Unstarred Question No.1 with answers were laid on the tables. There are few supplementaries on the Unstarred Question.

PANEL OF CHAIRMEN.

        The Speaker announced the names of the following persons to the Panel of Chairmen for the current session of the Assembly :-

 Shri P.R. Kyndiah, M.L.A.

 Shri D.D. Lapang, M.L.A.

3.

 Shri H. Hynniewta, M.L.A.

4.

 Prof. P.G. Marbaniang, M.L.A.

REPORT OF THE BUSINESS ADVISORY COMMITTEE.

        The Speaker announced the report of the Business Advisory Committee in settling the business of the current session of the Assembly. The report was accepted by the House.

PRESENTATION OF THE BUDGET FOR 1972-73.

        Shri B.B. Lyngdoh, Minister of Finance presented the Budget of the Government of Meghalaya for the financial year 1972-73 and read out his budget speech.

OBITUARY REFERENCE.

        Capt. Williamson A. Sangma, Chief Minister and Leader of the House made a reference to the untimely demise of Shri Damodaran Sanjivayya who was the President of the All India Congress Committee. Thereafter, Mr. Maham Singh, Leader of the Congress Group and Prof. Martin Narayan Majaw, Leader of the Independent Group of the House on behalf of their respective Groups paid their tribute to the noble son of India. The Speaker also associated himself with the feelings expressed by the Leader of the House and the two other Leaders and recalling his achievements and contributions for the cause of the country paid a glowing tributes to the memory of the departed soul. The House stood in silence for a minute in respectful homage and prayed for the eternal rest of the departed soul.

ADJOURNMENT :

        The House then adjourned at 11.40 a.m., till 10 a.m., on Tuesday, the 20th June, 1972.
