        The Assembly met at 10 A.M. The day was devoted for transaction of Government Business.

QUESTIONS :

        Starred Question No.11 was not put and answered as the hon. Questioner putting the question was absent. Starred Question No.12 with few supplementaries were replied. Answers to Unstarred Question Nos.9, 10 and 11 were laid in the tables of the hon. Members.

CALLING ATTENTION NOTICE UNDER RULE 54 

        Shri P.R. Kyndiah, M.L.A., called the attention of the Minister, P.W.D. (R&B) under Rule 54 of the Rules of Procedure and Conduct of Business of the Assembly relating to the bad condition of the main G.S. Road particularly between Mawlai bridge and Mawkhar Police Point to which the Chief Minister who is also the Minister in-charge of P.W.D. made a statement.

REPORT OF THE BUSINESS ADVISORY COMMITTEE 

        The Speaker then reported to the House the decision of the Business Advisory Committee meeting held on the 23rd June, 1972, where in the meeting, the Committee decided to have a recess of the Assembly on Monday, the 26th June, 1972 on requests made by many hon. Members on account of the "Annual Behdiengkhlam" of the Jowai people which would fall on that day.

GENERAL DISCUSSION ON BUDGET AND FINANCE MINISTER REPLY TO THE DISCUSSION.

        General discussion on Budget was then resumed. The following Hon. Members took part in the discussion :-

STATEMENT BY THE CHIEF MINISTER.

        The Chief Minister with the permission of the Speaker made a short statement relating to certain policies of the Government which the hon. Members raised in the general discussion on the Budget by way of intervention.

        The following Ministers also intervened in the general discussion on the Budget :-

1.

 Mr. G.A. Marak, Minister of State, Incharge P.W.D., etc.,

2.

 Mr. D.D. Pugh, Minister of State, Incharge Education, etc.,

3.

 Mr. E. Bareh, Minister of Revenue, etc.,

4.

 Mr. S. Marak, Minister of Health, etc.,

5.

 Mr. S.D.D. Nichols-Roy, Minister of Industries, etc.,

        Thereafter, the Finance Minister replied to the Budget criticism advanced during the discussion on Budget in about one and half hours time.

ADJOURNMENT 

        The Assembly was then adjourned at 5.30 P.M. to meet again at 10 A.M. on Tuesday, the 27th June, 1972.
