BULLETIN NO. 1.

Monday, the 27th November, 1972.

        The Winter Session of the Meghalaya Legislative Assembly commenced at 10 A.M., the day was devoted for transaction of Government Business.

1. REPORT OF THE BUSINESS ADVISORY COMMITTEE.

        The Speaker announced the Report of the Business Advisory Committee settling the business of the current Session of the Assembly. The Report was accepted in the House.

2. PANEL OF CHAIRMEN :

        The Speaker then announced the names of Members nominated by him to the Panel of Chairmen for the current Session in the following order :-

1.

Mr. G. Mylliemngap, M.L.A.,

2.

Mr. S.D. Khongwir, M.L.A.,

3.

Mr. Akramozzaman, M.L.A.,

4.

Miss Percylina Marak, M.L.A.,

3. PRESENTATION OF SUPPLEMENTARY DEMAND FOR GRANTS FOR 1972-1973.

        The Minister of Finance presented the Supplementary Demands for Grants and Supplementary Appropriations for the year 1972-73.

4. PRESENTATION OF THE REPORT OF THE RULES COMMITTEE :

        Shri B.B. Lyngdoh, Minister of Parliamentary Affairs presented the Report No.2 of the Rules Committee.

5. MEGHALAYA PUBLIC SERVICE COMMISSION REGULATIONS, 1972 AND (LIMITATION OF FUNCTIONS) REGULATIONS, 1972 :

        The Chief Minister laid in the House the Meghalaya Public Service Commission (Limitation of Functions) Regulations, 1972 and the Meghalaya Public Service Commission Regulations.

6. OBITUARY REFERENCE :

        Capt. W.A. Sangma, Chief Minister. and Leader of the House referred the demise of the following four personalities.

1.

Shri Narendra Nath Sarma, Ex-M.L.A. of Assam.

2.

Sant Fateh Singh, a religious leader of the Sikh Community.

3.

Shri Rajangam, M.P. for Tamil Nadu.

4.

Shri Ramo Prasad Wasa Bhada, M.P. and a veteranal leader.

        Shri Maham Singh, Leader of the Congress Party also associated himself with the feelings and sentiments expressed by the Leader of the House.

        The Speaker associated himself with the feelings and sentiments expressed by the two Leaders and recalling their achievements contributed for the cause of the country paid glowing tributes to the memories of the departed souls. The House stood in silence for one minute in respectful homage and prayed for the eternal rest of the  departed souls.

        ADJOURNMENT :

        As there was no business left for the day, the House stood adjourned at 10.15 A.M., to meet again on Tuesday, the 28th November, 1972.
