BUDGET SESSION NO.8

Saturday, the 22nd June, 1974.

        The Assembly met today the 22nd June, 1974 at 9 A.M. The day was devoted for transaction of Government Business.

 QUESTIONS :

        Unstarred Questions Nos.29, 30, 31, 32, 33, 34, 35, 36, 37, 38, 39 and 40 were replied to.

VOTING ON DEMANDS:

        Grant No.15 :

        Shri W. Syiemiong, M.L.A. continued his speech of yesterday the 21st June, 1974.

        Shri F.K. Mawlot who is also one of the movers of the cut motion spoke in support of this. Shri H.E. Poshna, M.L.A. supported the cut motion, whereas Shri D. Lyngdoh, M.L.A. and Shri O.L. Nongtdu, M.L.A. opposed the cut motion.

        The chief Minister replied to the various points raised in the discussion. The cut motion was later withdrawn. The Grant was accordingly passed.

        Grant No.16 was also passed by the House.

        Grant No.17 was also moved. Against this Grant two cut motions which stood in the names of Prof. M.N. Majaw, M.L.A. and of Shri H.S. Lyngdoh, M.L.A. were moved today. Sarvashri S.D. Khongwir, F.K. Mawlot, Maham Singh supported the contention of Prof. M.N. Majaw. Whereas Shri P.R. Kyndiah opposed it. The Hon. Chief Minister replied to the points raised in the discussion. Later Prof. M.N. Majaw withdrew his cut motion. Sarvashri W. Syiemiong. F.K. Mawlot, R. Lyngdoh,  S.D. Khongwir, D.N. Joshi, H.E. Poshna and Prof.  M.N. Majaw supported the cut motion of Mr. H.S. Lyngdoh but Prof. P.G. Marbaniang, Sarvashri Jormanik Syiem, G. Mylliemngap and Prof. A. Warjri opposed it. The Hon. Chief Minister replied to the points raised by the members in the discussion and later Shri H.S. Lyngdoh withdrew his cut motion. Discussion for Grant No.17 would be continued on Monday the 24th June, 1974 when the House would meet again.

ADJOURNMENT:

           The House was then adjourned at 1 P.M. to meet again on Monday the 24th June, 1974 at 9 A.M.
