        The Assembly met at 9.30 A.M. with the Speaker in the Chair.

        Unstarred Questions No.28-30, No.33, No.36, No.38-39 with supplementaries thereto were disposed of. Replies to unstarred questions No.31-32, No.34-35, No.37 & No.40 were laid on the Members' table.

2. ANNOUNCEMENT FROM THE CHAIR:

3. CALLING ATTENTION NOTICE:

        Shri Jormanick Syiem (APHLC), called the attention of the Minister, Supply, to a news-item of the " Implanter " dated 7th March, 1976, under the caption "Greater Shillong to get New Ration Cards".

        The Minister for Supply, Shri E. Bareh, made a statement in reply to the points raised in the Calling Attention Notice.

4. INTRODUCTION OF GOVERNMENT BILL:

        Shri B.B. Lyngdoh, Minister for Finance, introduces the Meghalaya Chit Fund and Money Circulation Scheme (Prohibition) Bill, 1976.

5. GENERAL DISCUSSION ON THE BUDGET:

        Shri G. Mylliemngap (APHLC), resumed the discussion on the Budget. Shri Maham Singh (CONG), Leader of the Opposition, ad Shri H.S. Lyngdoh (HSPDP), also participated in the day's discussion.

        Intervening in the discussion before the Finance Minister was to reply to the budget discussion, the Minister for Power etc., Shri S.D.D. Nichols Roy, and the Minister for Town and Country Planning etc., Shri P.R. Kyndiah, clarified certain issues which were raised by various Members earlier during the discussion, in so far they related to their Departments.

        The House was adjourned at 12.15 P.M. for 15 minutes, i.e. till 1.30 P.M. when the Finance Minister, Shri B.B. Lyngdoh, replied at length to all the important points raised during the discussion and in conclusion thanked the hon. Members for the spirit of co-operation they had manifested in the House so far. He also informed the House that all constructive suggestions had been taken due note of.

6. ADJOURNMENT:

        The House was adjourned by the Speaker at 2.12 P.M. to meet again at 9.30 A.M. on Wednesday, March 24, 1976.
