The Assembly met at 9.30 A.M. with the Speaker in the Chair.
Starred Question No.7 and Unstarred Questions No.84-85 and No.94 with supplementaries thereto were disposed of. Replies to Unstarred Questions No.83 and No.86-93 were laid on the Members' Table.
The Minister for P.H.E. resumed his reply to discussion on Cut Motion No.1 to Grant No.38 which was moved on the previous day. The Cut Motion was later withdrawn by leave of the House after the Minister's reply. Cut Motions No.2 and No.3 were not moved as the notifier of the former participated earlier in the discussion on Cut Motion No.1 which the latter was deemed to have been withdrawn due to the absence of the member who tabled the Cut Motion. Grant No.38 was thereafter passed.
The House also passed Grants No.39-56, No.56A-58, no.58A-72 and No.74.
All the Cut Motions in respect of Grants No.39, No.47, No.52, No.59, No.61, No.63, No.65, No.67, No.68 and No.69 were either not moved or withdrawn after adequate replied from the Ministers concerned. Cut Motions in respect of Grants No.42, No.43, No.58, No.62 and No.66 were ruled out of order, including Cut Motion No.3 to Grant No.47 and Cut Motion No.2 to Grant No.67.
All the Cut Motions in respect of Grant No.75-77, no.79A, No.80, No.86, No.89, No.99 and No.114 outstanding at 1.30 P.M. were guillotined in accordance with Rule 144(3) of the Rules of Procedure, after which the remaining Grants No.75-77, No.79, No.79A-81, no.84, No.84A, No.86, No.86A, No.92, No.92A, no.93-95, No.97, No.99, No.102-104, No.106-No.111, No.113, No.114 were passed.
The Meghalaya Appropriation (No. II) Bill, 1976, relating to the Budget for 1976-77 was introduced in and passed by the House without any discussion.
The Speaker adjourned the House at 1.40P.M. to meet again at 9.30 A.M. on Friday, April 2, 1976.
