The Assembly met at 9.30 A.M. with the Speaker in the Chair.
Replies to Unstarred Question No.1 was laid on the Members' table.
The Speaker apprised the House that till June 17, 1978, the Assembly Secretariat had forwarded 168 questions to various Department of the Government but regretted that replies to very few questions were forthcoming. He therefore, urged upon the Government to ensure that questions are replied to as early as possible.

Shri. Tuberlin Lyngdoh, Shri. Mukul Das, Shri. Tylli Kyndiah and Shri. Obil Kyndait spoke on various problems facing their respective constituencies on matters such as road construction, water supply, soil conservation, irrigation, fishery, use of power tillers, electrification of border villages, public health, general education, veterinary etc.
Shri. Manik Das pointed out that although 80% of the population of Meghalaya thrived on agriculture only 20.3% of the budget allocations was earmarked for development of agriculture and only 6% for development of road communication. He expressed utter dissatisfaction over the performance of various co-operative societies in the State and the implementation of the Special Nutrition Programme. He emphasized the need for establishing a college at Nongstoin in the West Khasi Hills District and English-medium residential schools in Garo Hills and West Khasi Hills District.
As there were no more members willing to participate, the presiding Chairman, Shri. S.D.D. Nichols Roy, adjourned the House at 11.20 A.M. till 9.30 A.M. on Tuesday, June 20, 1978.
