The Assembly met at 9.30 A.M. with the Speaker in the Chair.

1.    QUESTIONS :

        Starred Questions Nos. 3 & 4 with supplementaries on question No.3 were disposed of.

        Unstarred Questions Nos.52 - 56 with supplementaries there to were also disposed of.

2.    VOTING ON DEMAND FOR GRANTS.

        Grants Nos. 47 - 55 were passed by the House. The Cut Motion in respect of Grant No.49 was withdrawn by the Mover after hearing the Minister concerned. The Cut Motion in respect of Grant No.53 was not moved as the member was absent.

        Moving his Cut Motion on Grant No.49, Shri. D.N. Joshi (MULF) wanted to impress upon the Government the need for establishing grazing reserves and more artificial insemination centres in the State in areas easily accessible by the cattle rearers. He also wanted the inspecting staff of the Veterinary Department to visit places in the interior so as to groom the people for modernisation of their cattle and poultry farms and piggeries.

        Shri. S.D.D. Nichols Roy (ULP) and Shri. Reidson Momin (MULF) also took part in the discussion.

        In reply to the discussion, the Minister for Veterinary, Shri. B. Pakem, stated that in the matter of opening grazing reserves, the co-operation of the District Councils and the graziers was necessary in as much as the District Councils were virtual owners of lands. He assured the House that Government would extend all help in this direction as also in improving the veterinary service.

        ADJOURNMENT

        There being no more business to be transacted, the House was adjourned at 10.40 A.M. till 9.30 A.M. on June 30.
