        The Assembly met at 10 A.M. with the Speaker in the Chair.

1. QUESTIONS :

        Unstarred questions Nos.272-299 were disposed of.

2. ZERO HOUR :

        U Bah M.N. Majaw made a reference to the destruction of hundreds of houses in the villages of Mawlong, Mustoh, Tyrna, Shella etc. as a result of severe hailstorm which lashed the area on March 1, 1981.

        The Minister for Revenue, Shri D.D. Lapang, informed the House that substantial amount had been earmarked for the relief of the affected people and that the Deputy Commissioner concerned had been directed to assess the actual damage.

3. VOTING ON DEMANDS FOR GRANTS :

        The House passed demands for grants Nos.56 and 57. The Cut Motion on Grant No.56 moved by Shri S.P. Swer was withdrawn after the mover was satisfied with the reply given by the Minister incharge.

        Cut Motion Nos.1 and 2 were clubbed together and moved by Shri T. Kyndiah. There was a lengthy discussion on this Cut Motion in which the following members participated :-

(i) Shri J.C. Marak
(ii) Shri Obil Kyndait
(iii) Shri J.D. Pohrmen
(iv) Shri Mozibar Rahman
(v) Shri S.D.D. Nichols Roy
(vi) Shri B. Wanniang
(vii) Shri S.P. Swer.

        Most of the participants laid emphasis on the need for completion of existing roads rather than embarking upon new roads.

        The discussion was inconclusive for want of time.

ADJOURNMENT :

        The House was adjourned till 10 A.M. on Tuesday, March 17, 1981.
