MEGHALAYA LEGISLATIVE ASSEMBLY

BUDGET SESSION 1981

BULLETIN NO. 23.

Thursday, March 26, 1981.

The Assembly met at 10 A.M. with the Speaker in the Chair.

1. QUESTIONS :

Starred questions Nos.25 and 26 were not put as the questioner did not enter the Chamber in time. Starred questions Nos.27 to 32 and unstarred questions Nos.342 and 343 were disposed of.

2. ZERO HOUR :

U M.N. Majaw complained that the Minister did not make it a point to inform the local M.L.As and M.D.Cs. whenever the Ministers pay official visits to the constituencies of such M.L.As and M.D.Cs.

The Chief Minister informed the House that there were occasions in the past when Ministers had to draw up their itinerary at very short notice and, therefore, the possibility of late delivery of tour programmes could not be ruled out. He added that fresh instructions had been issued to the personal staff of Ministers to ensure that tour programmes of Ministers reached the concerned M.L.As and M.D.Cs. in good time.

3. VOTING ON DEMANDS FOR GRANTS :

The House passed Demands for Grants Nos.41- 45, 29-38 and 20-25. The Cut Motions in respect of Grants Nos.41, 45, 31, 34 and 21 were either not moved or withdrawn after adequate reply by the Minister concerned.

The discussion on Cut Motion No.2 on Grant No.27 could not be concluded for want of time.

ADJOURNMENT :

The House stood adjourned till 10 A.M. on Friday, March 27, 1981.
