        The Assembly met at 10 A.M. with the Speaker in the Chair.

1. DEBATE ON GOVERNOR'S ADDRESS :-

        The following members took part in the debate on Governor's Address :-

(i) Shri W.A. Sangma (Cong)
(ii) Shri Indro Pariat (HSPDP)
(iii) Shri Meckenson Sangma (APHLC)
(iv) Shri Bindo M. Lanong (APHLC)

        The participants dwelt at length in the subject of the tribal identity, education, road communication, streamlining of administration, etc.

        The House was adjourned at 10-58 A.M. till 12 noon.

2. REPLY TO DEBATE ON GOVERNOR'S ADDRESS :

        (After  12 noon)

        The Chief Minister, Shri B.B. Lyngdoh, assured the House that Government would try its utmost to translate all the plans and programmes as enunciated in the Governor's Address into actual deeds. He averred that Government was never opposed to the 20 points  programme. He disclosed to the House that the programmes were already in the process of implementation and assured that this would be pursued in the coming years by his Government. He reminded the House that stability was the pre-requisite of a good administration and enlisted the support and co-operation of all members of the House towards maintaining stability.

        The amendment to the Motion was deemed to  have been withdrawn as the member tabling it was found absent.

        The Motion of Thanks was thereafter passed without any dissenting voice.

ADJOURNMENT :

        The House rose at 1-35 P.M. to meet again at 10 A.M. on Tuesday, March 22, 1983.
