The House met at 10 A.M. with the Hon'ble Speaker in the Chair. Government Business were transacted during the day.
Shri Anthony Lyngdoh called the attention of the Minister in-charge Urban Affairs to a news item which were published in the Shillong times on 4th March 1994 under the caption "S.M.B. files suit-Firm fails to supply water tankers".
Shri J.M. Pariat Minister in-charge Urban Affairs informed the House that legal proceedings were drawn against M/S Mylliemngap Brother, the Firm which had been allotted work orders and that efforts were on to see that the tankers are delivered. He assured that the Department will take stringent measures to see that these things do not occur again. He did not elaborate as the matter in subjudice in the court.
Shri S.D. Khongwir took the floor first. Initiating the debate for the day, he supported the amendment to the motion of thanks. Others who spoke in favour and against the motion of thanks were :-
