        The House met at 10 a.m. with the Speaker in the Chair. The day was devoted for the transaction of Government Business. 

1. QUESTIONS :

        Starred question No.338 lapsed since the questioner was not present. Starred questions Nos. 339, 340, 341, 342, 343, 345 with supplementaries thereto were disposed of. Starred question No.346-no supplementary.

        Unstarred questions Nos. 41 to 51 to which written replies were given, were laid on the table.

2. VOTING ON DEMANDS FOR GRANTS :

        Shri P.K. Raswai, Minister incharge Mining and Geology moved Grant No.55. 

        Dr. Donkupar Roy moved his cut motion against this Grant. He raised a discussion with regard to the policy of the Government in respect of minerals in the State and quoted figures from statistic of the deposits of Coal and Limestones, the two major minerals besides other varieties like Granite, Uranium etc. He also lamented at the unscientific exploitation of these minerals and requested the Government to think seriously on this subject before it goes in for commercial production with the objective of bringing maximum benefits to the people of the State.

        Shri H.S. Lyngdoh, Shri A.H. Scott Lyngdoh, Shri M. Suchiang, Shri P.D. Sangma, Shri O.N. Shyrmang and Shri E.K. Mawlong supported the Cut Motion whereas Dr. Mukul Sangma, Shri Tonsing N. Marak, Shri S.L. Marbaniang and Shri M.I. Sarkar opposed.

3. ADJOURNMENT :

        The House rose at 2 p.m. and stood adjourned till 10 a.m. on Thursday, the 6th April, 1995.
