The House met at 10 a.m. with the Hon'ble Speaker in the Chair. The day was devoted for the transaction of Government Business.
Starred Questions Nos.1 to 13 with Supplementaries thereto were disposed of.
Shri Sujit Sangma, Minister i/c Power made a statement to the House with regard to the proposed measures of reforms for generating Power and Supply of Electricity by the MSEB. He laid a copy of the Statement on the Table of the House.
Shri J.D. Pohrmen, Minister i/c Finance, Presented the Supplementary Demands for Grants for 1994-95.
Shri D.N. Joshi initiated the Debate on the Governor's Address. He commended the various policies and programmes of the Government and called for an effective implementation of the policies.
Shri S.L. Marbaniang, supported the motion of thanks.
Shri A.H. Scott Lyngdoh moved the following amendment to the motion of thanks to the Governor's Address :-
" Substitute the full stop (.) at the end of the Motion of Thanks by a comma (,) and add the following thereafter, namely ;
' but regret that the Governor in his Address has failed to mention the following matters of great public importance :-
1) alarming and spiraling price rise prevailing in the State;
2) deterioration in the law and order situation and
3) proliferation of benami transactions in the State".
The mover of the amendment dealt at length on the lack of proper planning, lack of priorities and the failure of the Government in the field of development and also to other matters referred to in the Address.
