RE-ASSEMBLED BUDGET SESSION, 1998

BULLETIN NO.1

(Friday, the 12th June, 1998)

        The House met at 10 a.m. with the Hon'ble Speaker in the Chair. The day was devoted for the transaction of Government Business.

1.REPORT OF THE BUSINESS ADVISORY COMMITTEE:

        Under Rule 230 of the Rules of Procedure and Conduct of Business in the Meghalaya Legislative Assembly, the Speaker announced the Report of the Business Advisory Committee.

2.TIME ALLOCATION ORDER :

        Shri H.B. Dan, Minister incharge of Parliament Affairs moved :

        "That this House agrees to the allocation of time proposed by the Business Advisory Committee in regard to the various items of business for the current session".

(The motion was carried and the calendar for the current session approved).

3.PANEL OF CHAIRMEN :

        In pursuance of Rule 9 (1) of the Rules of Procedure and Conduct of Business in the Meghalaya Legislative Assembly, the Speaker nominated the following Members to the Panel of Chairmen for the current session :-

        (1) Shri D.N. Joshi.

        (2) Shri M. Suchiang.

        (3) Shri Elstone Roy Kharkongor.

        (4) Shri Ton Singh N. Marak.

4.LAYING OF REPORTS ETC :

        (1) Shri Martle M. Mukhim, Minister incharge of Power laid the Annual Administrative Report of the Meghalaya State Electricity Board for the year 1989-90.

        (2) Shri Sing Mulieh, Minister incharge of Industries laid the Annual Report of the Mawmluh Cherra Cements Limited for the year 1993-94.

5.PRESENTATION OF ACCOUNTS ETC. :

        Shri A.H. Scott Lyngdoh, Minister incharge of Finance, presented :-

        (i) Appropriation Accounts for the year 1996-97.

        (ii) Finance Accounts for the year 1996-97.

        (iii) Report of the Comptroller and Auditor General of India for the year ending the 31st March, 1997.

6.OBITUARY REFERENCES :       

        The House mourned the demise of the following national leaders and illustrious personalities (1) late Shri Bimal Sinha, former Health Minister of Tripura (2) late Shri Darbara Singh, former Governor of Rajasthan (3) late Shri Minoo Masani an eminent parliamentarian and member of the Constituent Assembly in 1947-48 and (4) late Shri Bishambar Nath Pandey, former Governor of Orissa.

(Two minutes silence was observed as a token of respect to the departed souls)

7.ADJOURNMENT

        The House rose at 10.25 a.m. and stood adjourned till 10 a.m. on Monday, the 15th June, 1998.
