MEGHALAYA LEGISLATIVE ASSEMBLY

SUMMER SESSION, 1999,

BULLETIN NO.6,

(Friday, the 18th June, 1999).

        The House met at 10 a.m. with the Hon'ble Speaker in the Chair. The day was devoted for the  transaction of Government Business.

1.    QUESTIONS :

        Starred Questions Nos.46, 48, 51, 52, 53, 54, 55, 56, 57, 58 with Supplementaries, 47, 49 without  Supplementary, were disposed of. Starred Question No.50 lapsed - questioner absent. 

2.    STATEMENT BY MINISTER-IN-CHARGE, HOME :

        Shri A.H. Scott Lyngdoh, Minister-in-charge, Home placed a statement relating to his reply to Starred Question No.14 dated 15th June, 1999.

3.    VOTING ON DEMANDS FOR GRANTS :

        Shri H.S. Lyngdoh continued his discussion on the Cut Motion he moved the other day against Grant No.16. He suggested re-organisation of the entire Police Force and to modernise the same at par with All India Standard. He also emphasized on the need to seek public co-operation in detecting crimes especially in tackling with crimes in villages and rural areas.

        Shri A.L. Hek, Shri P.M. Syeim and Shri T.H. Rangad participated and supported the Cut Motion.

        Commencing his  reply to the various discussions raised by the mover and members who have taken part, Shri A.H. Scott Lyngdoh, Minister-in-charge, Home stated that crimes are not isolated in Meghalaya alone but  are being frequently committed in other places as well and that some cases have greater intensity when compared to Meghalaya.

        However, he could not conclude his reply due to lack  of time. He will continue on the next day. 

4.    ADJOURNMENT :

        The House rose at 12 noon and stood adjourned till 10 a.m. on Monday, the 21st June, 1999.
