(a) Whether it is a fact that there is a huge Evasion of Excise Revenue?   (a) No, Sir.
 
(b) If so, the reson and the amount involved yearly from 1997-98 - 98-99 from such Evasion?   (b) Does not arise in view of above, Sir.
 

Financial Crisis

Soling and Mettaling of Wahkmai-Ummusniang-Rangad Road

(a) The date on which the tender was floated for soling and metalling of Wahkmai-Umsniang-Rangad road portion from 5.40 km to 11km?   (a) On the 25th February 1991.
 
 
(b) The reason of the deteriorating condition of the road and the delay of its completion?   (b) (i) Due to non availability of explosives and bitumen.
(ii) High intensity of traffic compared to the design crust thickness.
 
(c) How many layers of metalling provided in the sanctioned estimates?   (c) 3 coats.
 
(d) The progress of the work so far?   (d) 50%.
(e) Amount spent so far?   (e) Rs.29.57 lakhs.

FCI Godown

(a) Whether it is a fact that the F.C.I. had a Godown of its own (Rented) at Nongstoin in the past?   (a) Yes Sir.
 
(b) For how long had the Godown existed?   (b) Since June, 1973 upto 29th Sept., 1978.
(c) If the answer to (a) above is in the affirmative the reason why it was abolished.   (c) Due to the decontrol of Sugar during 1978 by Govt. of India.
(d) Is it a fact that in the last few years, the F.C.I. had been looking for a suitable plot of land for construction of the Godown at Nongstoin?   (d) Yes Sir.
 
 
(e) if so, what is the present position?   (e) A suitable plot of land is being located/identified.

Illicit Liquor Dens

(a) How many illicit liquor dens existed in the state during 1999.   (a) During the period 1.1.1999 to 31.5.99. Excise personnel caused 715 Raids at 77 locations in the State and detected 1397 cases, Sir.
 
(b) The name of area where such illicit dens existed and busted?   (b) A statement is placed on the Table of the House, Sir.
 

Khliehriat Community & Rural Development Block

Construction of Rymbai-Huroi-Borsora Road

(a) Whether the State P.W.D. has submitted any estimate for construction/improvement etc. of Rymbai-Huroi-Borsora-Jalalpur road to the N.E.C. authority for sanction?   (a) No, Sir
 
 
(b) if the reply to (a) above is in affirmative, please state the number of estimates sanctioned?   (b) Does not arise in view of (a) above.
 
(c) If the reply is in negative the reasons thereof?   (b) Estimate for construction/improvement of the road will be submitted after completion of the detailed survey for which has already been sanctioned by NEC and the work is now in progress.
 
 

Board Meeting of the State Tourism Deptt.

(a) Whether it is a fact that the Board meeting of the State Tourism Department had asked for financial help from the State Government to tide over the financial problems?   (a) Yes, Sir.
 
 
(b) If so, the Government's attitude towards the S.O.S. message from the Board?   (b) Government has sanctioned an amount of Rs.10.00 lakhs as financial assistance to Meghalaya Tourism Development Corporation to tide over their present crisis.
 
(c) If not, the reasons thereof?   (c) Does not arise.

Sanctioned Estimates for Wahkmai-Um-Musniang-Rangad Road

(a) Whether it is a fact that the Employees of the MTDC never received the Annual Statements relating to their provident funds?   (a) The employees of the Meghalaya Tourism Development Corporation received the annual statements relating to the Provided Fund up the the year 1990-91 sent by the Assistant Provident Fund Commissioner, North Eastern Region Sub-Regional Office, Laitumkhrah Shillong.
