Raid Laban Forest

*3. Will the Minister-in-charge, Forest be pleased to state:-    
(a) Whether the Forested area commonly known as Raid Laban Forest is being looked after by the Forest Department?   (a) and (b)

Sir, a part of the Raid Laban Forest measuring 97.20 hectares is being looked after by the State Forest Department for a period of fifty years commencing 1st August, 1981 as per agrement executed on that date, between the State and the Raid Laban authorities.

 
 
 
 
(b) If so, what is the agreement entered into by the Forest Department with Raid Laban?    
(c) Whether afforestation and replanting of trees is being done in the said forest?   (c) Sir, afforestation and replantation of trees in the said forest had been completed by the State Forest Department before execution of the agreement. The forest is since being maintained and protected.
(d) The boundaries of this forest ?   (d) Sir, the forest measuring 97.20 hectares consists of two plots, the boundaries of which are as follows :-
    Plot No. I :
    North : Lumparing Upper Laban Village.
    South : Air Force Areas and Peak Ridge.
    East : Laitkor Protected Forest.
    West : Riat Laban Protected Forest.
         
    Plot No. II :  
    North : Private Land.
    South : Riat Laban Protected Forest.
    East : Burial Ground Sericulture Farm.
    West : Umjasai Stream.

Sports contingent in the National Games.

participating in the National Games recently held at Manipur?

(b) If so, how big was the contingent and in what disciplines?   (b) 42 Nos. including five officials and Team Managers in the disciplines of
    (1) Athletic (2) Archery
    (3) Boxing and (4) Gymnastic.
(c) Whether Meghalaya did win in any event?   (c) Yes, Sir.

Promotion of Sports

(b) If so, what is the total amount and amount meant for each M.L.A.?   (b) Rs.150.00 lakhs @ Rs.2.50 lakhs for each M.L.A. constituency.
(c) Whether funds already placed at the disposal of the M.L.As?   (c) No, Sir, Fund will be placed with the Deputy Commissioners.
(d) If not, when?   (d) Does not arise in view of (c) above.

Crematorium for Shillong City

(a) Whether Government is planning to set up a Crematorium for Shillong City?   (a) Yes, Sir.
 
(b) If so, where will the Crematorium be located?   (b) Sir, the Crematorium is proposed to be constructed on Shillong Cantonment, Plot No. 136.
 
(c) The progress of work in establishing the same and amount spent so far?   (c) The Crematorium will be established as soon as the proposed land is handed over by the Defence authorities, Sir.

(a) The number of villages not having any school District-wise?   (a) According to the 6th Educational Survey the District-wise number of Habitations or Villages which do not have Primary Schools is as follows :-

(d) What is the criteria for the different primary teachers in respect of pay/salaries?   (d) The 3rd Pay Revision has only one pay scale on Primary teachers Existing teachers who are under qualified draw corresponding pay scale of under-Matric (Trained).
