Subsidy to Farmers

*107. Will the Minister-in-charge, Agriculture be pleased to state :-    
(a) Whether it is a fact that the department gives 50% subsidy to the farmers for purchase of tractor, power tiller?

 
  (a) Yes Sir, in the case of Power Tillers and Power pumps, 50% subsidy is being given. However in the case of tractors a flat rate of Rs.95,000/- (Rupees ninety five thousand) only is being given.
(b) If so, the names of beneficiaries who had received such help from 98-99, 99-2000.





 
  (b) The list of beneficiaries for 1998-99 is placed on the Table of the House. For the year 1999-2000 the following machines are proposed to be subsidised as targetted below :-
(1) Tractors            -    7 Nos.
(2) Power Tillers     -   38 Nos.
(3)Power pumps  -    19 Nos.
The selection of beneficiaries is under process.

Shifting of L.P. School

(b) If so, when was the School shifted and the reason thereof.   (b) May, 1997. Due to decrease in the enrolment as most of the families had shifted to another village.
(c) Is there any school in Mynriah village at present.   (c) Yes, Sir.
(d) If yes, whether the Government is contemplating to give any financial help to this school.   (d) No, Sir.
 

Government Role on Communication

  (a) The role of the State Government is to liaiso and co-operate with the Telecom and Postal departments with regard to development of Telecom and Postal services in the State. The State also makes contribution in the form of Non-Returnable Contribution (NRC) for maintenance of post offices which are running at losses.
(b) Whether the Government proposed to introduced the S.T.D. facilities as local calls within the State?   (b) Yes, Sir.

Outspread of Malaria

  (b) There is no Medical Officer at present. However, a team of Medical & Para Medical Officials visited these areas during the period.

Rural Electrification

    Estimated damage - Rs.67,16,140.

(c) Whether the Government has provided any relief and rehabilitation to the Cyclone Victims?   (c) Yes, Sir.

  (d) West Garo Hills District
   
An amount of Rs.4,94,375/- only sanctioned and placed at the disposal of the Deputy Commissioner Tura for rendering relief measures to the cyclone affected victims.

West Khasi Hills
   
A sum of Rs.2,98,875/- only was sanctioned and placed at the disposal of the Deputy Commissioner, Nongstoin for rendering relief assistance to the cyclone affected victims.

Govt. and Non-Govt. School

  (b) Rule 7 (4) of the draft Meghalaya Taxation Service Rules specify that (a) seventy five percent of the total vacancies to be filled up by direct recruitment through a competitive examination to be conducted by the Commission.
(b) Twenty five percent of the total vacancies by selection from amongst the ministerial staff who are serving in the offices of the Commissioner of taxes or of the Superintendent of taxes not lower than that of a Lower Division Assistant.
(c) Provided the number of persons recruited under clause (b) above shall not at any time exceed 25 per cent of the total strength in that grade of the service.

  (c) The Archaeological Survey of India excavated the surveyed area in 1992-93 and unearthened the remains of a fortress site, a Buddhist stupa and temples and many artefacts of historical value.

    (i) Supply of improved and high yielding variety seeds.
(ii) Supply of fertilizer, plant protection chemicals and equipments.
(iii) Supply of power tillers and tractors.
(iv) Supply of irrigation water.
(v) Imparting of training on production technology.

During the year 1999-2000 the amount of Fund provided in the budget is Rs.62.21 lakhs.
