Rate of Inflation

(a) What is the present rate of inflation in the State ?
(b) Whether the available rate is conducive to the growth of the economy of the State ?
(c) the anti-inflationary measures adopted by the State Government to peg Inflation at a desirable rate ?
  (a), (b) and (c). the State follows the all-India Price Index according to which inflation stood at 3.74 per cent as on 18 March, 2000. This level of inflation will not affect economic growth, Sir.

 The total revenue of the Government earned till 29-02-2000 during the current financial year is Rs.4,81,25,357.00/- (Rupees four crore, eighty one lakhs, twenty five thousand, three hundred fifty seven).
 

Yatri Niwas

  (b) The Yatriniwas at Tura has been completed during 1996 at Shillong in the year 1998.
(c) Whether the two Yatri Niwas have been operationalised and if not, what are the reasons ?

 
  (c) Not yet. Government has decided to hand over the two Yatriniwas to private for management after finalisation of the term and conditions to be worked out by the Tourism Privatisation Committee which is under process.

Production of Cement

(a) The daily production of Cements in MCCL in metric tonnes ?
 
  (a) The average daily production of cement in Mawmluh Cherra Cement Limited per day for 1999-2000 is 350 metric tonnes.
(b) Whether there is any proposal to modernise the MCCL so as to increase its production capacity ?   (b) Yes, Sir.
 
(c) The synopsis of the proposal ?




 
  (c) The proposal envisages expansion of the plant from the present 680 MT to 1340 Mt per day. This involves modernisation and expansion of Kiln. No. 3 and conversion of the wet system with semi-wet process. As per consultant Interim report the approximate cost of the expansion is around Rs.30 (thirty) crores.

Environmental Degradation

Village Reserve Forest

  (b) Due to procedural and operational difficulties as per earlier guidelines for the scheme, revised guidelines have been issued vide Notification No. FOR. 43/99/3 dt. 3rd of February, 2000 and steps are being taken to implement the scheme as per the revised guidelines.

Timber Ban
