Tea Plantation

(a) The number of tea plantations in the State run by Government ?




 
  (a) Sir, there are three(3) Nos. of Tea Plantation in the State run by the Government.
(i)   Tea Experimental Centre-Umsning Ri-Bhoi District.
(ii)  Tea Experimental Centre-Rongram West Garo Hills 
       District.
(iii)  Tea Experimental Centre-Riangdo West Garo Hills
        District.
(b) Whether process of production has been started from these tea plantations ?




 
  (b) Yes, Sir. The production of green tea leaves has been started from 1988-89. However, the total production of green leaves from the above mentioned centres for the last 3 (three) years are as follows :-
1. 1997-98      -   61,539 Kg.
2. 1998-99      -   72,178 Kg.
3. 1999-2000  -   60,801 Kg.
(c) The amount of annual profit earned so far ?
 
  (c) Sir, the total sale proceed of green tea leaves for the last three years are as follows :-

Coal Challan

Appointment of Lecturers

Appointment of Director  of Non-Conventional Energy

(b) Whether the said Department will repair the said pipe line and restore the water supply to the Mangsang PHC ?   (b) Yes, Sir.
 

Appointment of Assistant Teachers

(a) The total number of Assistant Teachers (Arts) appointed so far in the Government High Schools ?   (a) 42 Nos Sir. From the last list recommended by the Meghalaya Service Commission during 1998-99.
(b) The total number of such teachers caste/community wise ?   (b) 19 number of Khasi and Jaintia 19 Number of Garo and 4 number General.
(c) Whether it is a fact that the lone candidate recommended by the MPSC for the aforesaid post from 5 percent quota belonging to other tribe whose position is 36 in the recommended list has been deprived of the said appointment.   (c) Yes, Sir.



 
(d) Whether copies of such appointment(s) can be sent to each MLA.   (d) It is not normally done except on demand.
 

Private Tea Planters

(a) Whether the Government has any scheme to encourage private tea planters ?   (a) Yes, Sir.
 
(b) If so, nature of the scheme be stated ?




 
  (b) The Scheme provides for (1) Financial assistance to the small growers from 0 to year to 4th year of plantation (2) Technical knowhow guidance/training (3) Supply of planting materials free of cost for the package scheme. However for the scheme Farmer's Oriented plantation supply of seeding is made at 50% subsidy.
(c) Whether tea seedings given to the planters is part of the scheme ?   (c) Yes, Sir.
 

Construction of Embankment  at Williamnagar

(b) If the answer to (a) is in the negative, the reason thereof ?   (b) Due to early on set of monsoon survey could not be done. The same will be done during dry season.

Lights on the top of their cars ?   (a) Yes, Sir.




 
(b) Whether the members of the Legislative Assembly are entitled to use the Red-Light/V.I.P. Lights on the top of their cars ?   (b) No, Sir.

 
(c) If not, why ?




 
  (c) The use of flickering red light on vehicles is authorised by the State government under Clause (iii) of the proviso of Rules 108 of Central Motor vehicles Rules, 1989. The members of the Legislative Assembly have not been authorised to use Red Light on their vehicles by the State Government under the proviso of above mentioned Rules.

Purchase of Requirements for government Hospitals

  (a) Sir, requirement of Hospitals/PHCs/CHCs are assessed as per the felt needs, norms etc. Annual purchase includes medicines, Hospital consumable (Surgical and other Non-Surgical Items) Dietary Articles, equipments Furniture etc.
(b) The amount that the department had earmarked for each purchase ?


 
  (b) The amount of Purchase varies from Institution to Institution and may or may not necessarily be uniform through out the year. Hence the amount of purchase can not be decided in advance. Generally it is based on availabilities of fund and budget provisions, Sir.

  (b) Sir, the government of India decided to distribute subsidised essential commodities like rice &wheat through Targeted public Distribution System to alleviate condition of people living below poverty line and economically weaker section of the people throughout the Country. Hence the scheme is also implemented in Meghalaya.
