Acquiring of Land by non-tribals

*13. Will the Minister in-charge, Revenue be pleased to state :-    
  (a) If the land belongs to a tribal can he or she give a power of attorney of his/her land to a non-tribal ?   (a) Yes, Sir.
   
  (b) If yes, will the Government look into this matter to disallow acquiring land by a non-tribal through back door in a form of power attorney ?   (b) Acquiring lands by the non-tribals is governed by the Meghalaya Transfer of Land (Regulation) Act, 197.
 

Potable drinking Water

Will the Minister in-charge, Public Health Engineering be pleased to state why did Umlyngpung village is still uncovered with potable drinking water of being in the census book ?   Sir, the village is uncovered as suitable surface source for gravity flow could not be identified till date.

  (a) Whether the Kisan Credit Card Scheme has been implemented in the State ?   (a) Yes, Sir.
   
  (b) If not, the reasons thereof ?   (b) Does not arise in view of (a) above.
  (c) If so, how many such cards had been issued till date ?   (c) 168 Cards were issued upto 31-12-1999.

  (a) Whether the Government of Meghalaya will implement the population policy in the State as announced by the Union Government ?   (a) Sir, we have received no communication/information to the effect that the National Population Policy has been announced by the Union Government.
 
 
  (b) If so, since when ?   (b) & (c) does not arise in view of (a) above.
  (c) What are the measure to be adopted by the State Government ?

  (b) What are the factors which will help the State with a head spinning as tax ?   (b) Intensification of collection of taxes and measures to check tax evasion are steps taken for improvement in collection of tax revenue.
