State Coffers

*18. Will the Minister in-charge, Finance be pleased to state :-    
   
  (a) How much the present Government inherited the coffers from the previous Government of 1993 upto 1998 ?   (a) Sir, the opening balance as on 1-4-1998 was Rs.(-67.72 crores and holding in Treasury Bills Rs.68.14 crores.
 
   
  (b) What is the present position of the State coffers ?   (b) Consequent to stringent measures taken by the Government the financial position of the State is stable at present,Sir.
   
   

Revenue of the State

*19. Will the Minister in-charge, Finance be pleased to state :-    
  (a) Whether the revenue of the State is diminishing or increasing ?   (a), (b) & (c) There is an increase in the revenue of the State compared to the previous year. The quantum of the increase during 1999-2000 will be known only after 31st March, 2000, Sir.
 
  (b) If it is diminishing what are those factors which left a hangover ?
 
  (c) If increasing, by how much upto 15th March, 2000.

  (a) Whether any prospective investors coming to our State?   (a) Yes, Sir.
  (b) If so, what are those investors and in which field investment is attractive ?   (b) Statement is placed on the Table of the House containing the names of Companies and type of Industry.
 
  (c) If not, what are the prerequisites for attracting investments ?   (c) Does not arise in view of (a) and (b) above.
 

Liquor Industry

*21. Will the Minister in-charge, Excise be pleased to state :-    
  (a) How many liquor industry exist in our State ?   (a) Two Units, Sir.
  (b) By how much turnover had been registered from the sale of beer and IMFL ?   (b) The units do not produce beer. Excise duty and other fees collected on IMFL produced by the two units during the current year is Rs.1,13,54,088.40.
   
   
  (c) Whether the Government had increased the sales tax for liquor and beer ?   (c) The rate of Sales Tax has been increased to 20% with effect from 1.1.2000 but the total rate excise duty which includes Sales Tax has not been increased.
 
     

Sale of Liquor

  (a) Whether the Government will lift the ban on sale of cheap liquor ?   (a) The matter of legalisation of illicit liquor is under consideration of Government.
   
 (b) If not, the reasons thereof ?   (b) & (c) Does not arise in view of (a) above. 
 (c) If so, since when ?
