Slum Areas

*119. Will the Minister-in-charge, Urban Affairs be pleased to state :-    
(a) Whether Government is aware that Lumsohphoh (Naspatighari) and Barapathar both under Civil & Cantonment Areas around R.P. Chest Hospital are slum areas?   (a) Yes, Sir.


 
(b) If so, the steps being taken to improve the alum areas in 21-Mawprem Constituency?



 
  (b) Sir, except for a slum areas falling under Shillong cantonment, improvement works had been taken up under Environmental Improvement of Slum Areas scheme in the Slum areas falling under 21-Mawprem Constituency. Presently, Improved works are being taken up in these areas under National Slum Development Programme.
(c) The amount of money earmarked for the purpose both from the State and the Central pool?   (c) Sir, the amount of money earmarked for the purpose is Rs.5.00 lakhs.

Bull Rearing Centre

Classification of Border Area

(a) The criteria for determining the villages or areas which may be classified or identified as INDO-BANGLADESH BORDERS?



 
  (a) Sir, there are three criteria for classification as border area village, these are :-
(i) Distance of 10 Km (Approximately) as the crow flies from the international boundary with Bangladesh.
(ii) Degree of economic backwardness.
(iii) Dependence upon traditional trade with the country now know as Bangladesh.
(b) The names of the Assembly Constituencies which fall along the Indo-Bangladesh Borders and the percentage of the area which falls under border area?   (b) Sir, a statement is placed on the Table of the House.

 

Special Schemes

(a) Whether the Government has any proposal to earmark the SPECIAL SCHEMES to all the Assembly Constituencies bordering Assam (Inter-State Border) during 2000-2001?   (a) Sir, so far there is no Special Schemes for the Assembly Constituencies bordering Assam.

 
(b) If not, the reasons thereof?   (b) Does not arise in view of (a) above.

Chief Minister's Visit

(a) Whether it is a fact the Chief Minister had visited Umroi Airport recently with some officials?   (a) Yes, Sir.

  (b) With the intervention of the Chief Minister, the villagers who were earlier not cooperating for allowing survey for land acquisition, have agreed to co-operate with the assurance that village headman of concerned villages shall be associated with preparation of land acquisition proposal etc.

Expenditure on Exhibition, Festival, etc.

(a) Whether it is a fact that lots of money had been involved in exhibition/publicity/tourist festival by the Tourism Department?   (a) Expenditure for publicity purposes is confined well within the Budget allocation during every financial year.
 
(b) The amount of expenditure during the last three years?
 
  (b) The break-up of expenditure for the last three years are as follows :-
    (i) 1997-98 - Rs.29,56,672/- out of Rs.30.00 lakhs.
    (ii) 1998-99 - Rs.10,95,220/- out of Rs.40.00 lakhs.
    (iii) 1999-2000 - Rs.14,62,834/- out of Rs.50.00 lakhs.

Diploma Course for Archery

Post of A.R.C.S.

(c) Whether the post will be filled up?




 
  (c) Yes, Sir. The process of filling up the post is on and after DPC's recommendation the post will be filled up in regular manner. However, Shri S.N. Kundu, Deputy Registrar of Cooperative Societies, Tura has been asked to look after the duties of Assistant Registrar of Cooperative Societies, Williamnagar in addition to his own duties during this period

Deputation of Home Guards

Village Electrification

*128. Will the Minister-in-charge, Power be pleased to state whether the Government has taken any steps to electrify the following villages under the Songsak development Block in East Garo Hills?
(i) Snal Bollonggre
(ii) Koknal Imonggre
(iii) Pakregre.
    Sir, steps to provide electricity to the villages Snal Bollongre, Koknal Imonggre and Pakregre will be initiated by Meghalaya State Electricity Board depending on availability of fund.


 

School Bus Service

  (b) The earnings for the year 1999-2000 are as below :-
(i) School Bus Service Rs.13,63 lakhs.
(ii) Other Bus Services Rs.275.02 lakhs.
(c) The number of cases that had been detected for leakage of revenue since January 2000 on M.T.C. Buses?   (c) 10 (ten) cases, Sir.
 

Fencing and Repairing of Wards Lake

(a) Whether there is any proposal by the department for construction of fencing and repairing work around the Wards lake?   (a) Yes, Sir.

 
(b) If the answer to (a) above is in affirmative, whether the work has been started?

 
  (b) The proposal for replacing the square mash wire net panels by M.S. grills for boundary fencing of R.C.C. framed enclosure in order to make it more secure has been sent to the  Government for sanction.

Purchase of Vehicle

(a) Whether it is a fact that a vehicle was purchased for the office of the Zonal Deputy Registrar of Co-operative Societies of Garo Hills Zone in April, 1998?   (a) Yes, Sir.

 
(b) Whether it is a fact that the said new vehicle had not been allotted to the Zonal Deputy Registrar of Co-operative Societies of Garo Hills Zone till date?





 
  (b) Yes, Sir. The vehicle had not been handed over to Zonal Deputy Registrar of Co-operative Societies, Garo Hills Tura, as he has not recruited a driver with recommendation of the District Selection Committee against the sanctioned post as communicated vide Govt. letter No.COD.61/97/Pt/16 dated 20-3-99 inspite of reminders vide  letter Nos. CE (M). 11/97/56/4650, dt.24-6-99, No. CE (M). 11/97/81/3477 dt. 1-6-2000 and No. CE (M). 11/97/99/33-35 dt. 16-6-2000.
         The vehicle will be handed over as soon as the driver is regularly appointed on the recommendation of the District Selection Committee and report to the Office of the Registrar of Co-operative Societies.
(c) Whether it is also a fact that the said vehicle was being used by high ranking officer of the department?
 
  (c) The vehicle is in the Head Office and being used for official duty by the officers of the Headquarter as and when required.
