    (ii) Two Wildlife Sanctuaries, Sir, namely, Siju Wildlife Sanctuary and Baghmara Pitcher Plant Sanctuary.
(b) The surface distance between Balpakram and Nokrek?

(c) The surface distance from Siju to Balpakram and Siju to Nokrek respectively?
 
  (b) & (c). The question is not clear since the surface distance can be stated between two points or places. Balpakram National Park, Nokrek National Park and Siju Wildlife Sanctuary area large areas, therefore unless a particular point in places is specified it is not possible to indicate the surface distance, Sir.

Case of Assault in Police Bazar

Salary of Teachers

(a) Yes, Sir.




 
(b) If so, the reason (s) thereof? (b) Payment of the salaries of the following Schools viz.

(3) Paham M.E. School had been withheld due to fraudulent drawal of money detected by the Treasury Officer, Tura.

(c) The cases of the above three schools are still subjudice. However, after disposal of the cases, release of the grants will be considered.

Construction of District Laboratory Building

(b) If so, will the minister agree that the Government orders have no value in this particular case?  

(b) No, Sir. However, the department will examine this particular case and take appropriate steps.

Chikbok Scheme

Water Shed Development Project

(a) How many numbers of Watershed Development Project for Shifting Cultivation Areas and Integrated Wasteland Development Programme are being implemented in the State during 1999-2000 and 2000-2001 Division-wise?

(a) The number of Watershed Development Project for Shifting Cultivation Areas and Integrated Wasteland Development Programme implemented in the State during 1999-2000 and 2000-2001. Statement "A" placed on the Table of the House, Sir.

(b) The different types of scheme available from this Watershed Scheme to each beneficiary Division-wise?

(b) The following schemes are usually available in both the Watershed schemes in all the Divisions. A beneficiary can be benefited from either of the schemes:

Economic Prosperity

(a) & (b) Sir, the advance estimates of Net State Domestic Product at constant (1993-94) prices for the year 2000-2001 is Rs.1999.41 crores as against Rs.1305.72 crores during 1993-1994. The increase in NSDP reflects the economic growth of the State. The sectoral contribution to NSDP are :

    -    Primary Sector 31.77%
    -    Secondary Sector 11.62%
    -    Tertiary Sector 56.61%

5 Kilometres Schemes

(b) There was an inquiry into certain allegations of unethical and corrupt practices by the incumbent in which the Inquiry Officer submitted an adverse report against him. Since the incumbent was a deputationist, his services were reverted to the Garo Hills Autonomous District Council, being the appointing Authority, for their necessary action.

Creation of S.E. Circle

    (i) Cielo car - 6 (six) nos.
    (ii) Esteem VX - 6 (six) nos.
    (iii) Armada - 3 (three) nos.

(a) How much the Government had spent  in providing relief to the people of Pyrdiwah?  

(a) Total expenditure incurred as relief at Pyrdiwah was Rs.6,36,342.40 p.

(b) The Nos. of affected families who have received relief and the nature and relief materials extended by the Government both cash and kind?

 

(b) Nos. of affected families - 69. Nature relief materials are, 40 quintals of rice, 4 quintals of Masur Dal, 4 quintals of sugar, and 2 quintals of salt and 207 bundles of CGI sheets at the rate of 3 bundles per family.

   Sir, the question is not clear, as it neither specifies the newspaper (s) nor the news item (s).

   However, it is presumed that the question relates to the news items captioned (i) "FKJGP detects timber smuggling" which appeared on 8-3-2001 in "The Shillong Times" and (ii) "Timber Smuggling continue unabated despite ban : FKJGP" which appeared on 8-3-2001 in "Apphira".

   

   Sir, if this presumption is correct then the reply is in the affirmative.

Creation of New Civil Sub-Division

(a) Whether it is a fact that the Government have taken up the matter of creation of new Civil Sub-Division and up-gradation of certain existing Civil Sub-Division into full fledged Districts with the 11th Finance Commission?

(a) Yes, Sir.



 
(b) If the answer to question (a) above is in the affirmative, what is the outcome of such move? (b) The 11th Finance Commission did not make any award for the purpose.
(c) If the answer to question (a) above is in negative, whether Government have adopted any policy/taken any alternative step to do the same? (c) Does not arise in view to answer (a) above.

 

Cyclone Relief Measures
