Setting up of a Committee

Timber Smuggling

Helicopter Service

Umle Micro Hydel Project

(c) Recently Government of India has dropped the Project from the list of Demonstration Project under UNDP/GEF, Hilly Hydro Project. However, the matter is being taken up with the Government of India to reconsider their stand.

Balapara LIP

(b) Sir, the Government has created 7 (seven) new C & RD Block under the 11th Finance Commission Award vide Notification No.CCD.232/89/Pt/61, dtd. 20-03-2001 published in the Meghalaya Extra Ordinary Gazette.

Sick Units

(a) Whether the Department is aware that some of the Industries Financed by MIDC, DIC are sick units now?  

(a) Yes, Sir, some of the industries financed by MIDC are sick. However DIC is not a financing agency.
 

(b) If so, whether the Government has taken any initiative to revitalise such units?   (b) Yes, Sir.
 
(c) If so, the details thereof?












 
 

(c) For two subsidiaries of MIDC the Government has prepared a revival package which is under trial. A committee has been set up to prepare a revival package for another subsidiary of MIDC. For two industrial units assisted by MIDC by participating in their equity, which became sick, a revival package is being worked out by the Operating Agencies appointed by the Board for Industrial and Financial Reconstruction (BIFR) and the State Government will be playing its role in the revival process. Some units for which MIDC has provided term loan have also become sick. The MIDC has taken steps to protect its investment in these various units by helping the original units to revive or by taking over the properties and leasing them out to others.

(d) If the answer to (a) above is in the negative, please state the total amount given to by the MIDC and D.I.C and the recovery made from such units till date?   (d) Does not arise.

Galwang & Rongap Micro-Hydel Projects

Ban on Timber

(b) The average amount spent for each school building ranges from Rs.90,000/- to Rs. 1,50,000/-. The amount differs from one DRDA to another depending on the unit cost approved by respective BSC, Sir.

Relief to Victims of Natural Calamities

Soil Testing

(a) If the finding from soil testing is found that nitrogen is high, phosphorous is low medium, potassium medium what action the department is taken.  

(a) Depending upon other variables steps can be taken to correct the fertility of the soil, through the judicious use of different nutrients including application of lime.

(b) Can plantation be encouraged on such soil?  

(b) Yes, plantation can be encouraged with nutrient management judicious.

Enhancement of Fund

Tinber Smuggling

*162. Will the Minister in-charge, Forest & Environment be pleased to state whether the Government have taken any action against the officers and staff of the forest Check Gate at Byrnihat who were involved in timber smuggling as appeared in the newspapers dated 8th March, 2001?

 

Government have not taken any action against the officers and staff of the Forest Check Gate at Byrnihat as nexus between the staff member and the reported organisations and the timber smugglers could not be established, through an inquiry conducted by the Departmental officers.
 

Beneficiaries of Subsidised Machines

(a) Out of targeted machines of 1999-2000 proposed for subsidised how many beneficiaries has been selected?   (a) 153 beneficiaries selected Sir.

Traffic Congestion

*164. Will the Minister in-charge, Home (Police) be pleased to state:-    
(a) What action the Government taken to ease traffic congestion during school hours?







 
 

(a) Following actions have been taken to ease traffic congestion during school hours :-
(i) "No Entry" restriction for all trucks into the Shillong city during school and rush hours from 7 a.m. to 11 a.m. everyday except on Sundays, holidays, have been imposed.
(ii) Additional deployment of traffic Police at all important junctions near schools and commercial areas, strict enforcement of traffic rules and close supervision of duties at different levels.

(b) Did the Government had any contingency plan so that school children will not reach their schools late?   (b) No, Sir.
