(a) Whether the Urban Affairs Department is planning to construct Fly-over in Shillong Town to relieve traffic congestion?   (a) Yes, Sir.

 
(b) If yes, where are these Fly-over are proposed to be constructed?   (c) Sir, at present, Fly-over is proposed to be constructed at Police Bazar.

Land for P.H.E. Sub-Division

(a) Whether the land for P.H.E. Sub-Division, Chockpot at Warimagri has been acquired or not?   (a) No, Sir.
 
(b) If not, the reasons thereof?   (b) Due to objection from the land owner, Sir.

Sanitary Inspectors

(a) Whether the Government has any Sanitary Inspectors in its employ?   (a) No, Sir. Sanitary Inspectors are employed by the Shillong Municipal Board.
(b) What are their duties?


 
  (b) Their duties is to supervise and inspect the works carried out by the Sweepers and Mazdoors of the Shillong Municipal Board in regard to the overall maintenance of cleanliness in the city.

Gram Sevaks/Sevikas

(a) When the interview for the recruitment of the Gram Sevaks/sevikas were conducted last in the Districts of Garo Hills?   (a) Sir, the interview for the recruitment of the Gram Sevaks/Sevikas has not been conducted yet in any of the 3 (three) Districts of Garo Hills.
(b) Whether results were declared or not?   (b) Does not arise in view of (a) above, Sir.
(c) If not, the reasons thereof?






 
  (c) Sir, the reasons are as follows :-
(i) West Garo Hills _ Written test and viva voce are yet to be conducted.
(ii) East Garo Hills - The District Selection Committee has not been fully reconstituted.
(iii)  South Garo Hills - Since District Selection Committee was reconstituted was reconstituted only in May 2002the matter is under process.

Food Inspectors

  (b) Sir their duties are as prescribed under Rule 9 of Prevention of Food Adulteration Rules, 1995.

S.D.O., P.H.E. Chockpot

(a) The name of the present incumbent S.D.O., P.H.E. Warimagri?   (a) There is no post of Sub-Divisional Officer (PHE) Warimagri, Sir.
(b) Whether the incumbent S.D.O. P.H.E. Chockpot has been transferred or not?   (b) Yes, Sir.
 
(c) If transferred, the reasons thereof?


 
  (c) The Sub-Divisional Officer (PHE) Chockpot Sub-Division was one of the Officers transferred on 15th May 2002, for the satisfactory implementation of schemes in the Sub-divisions.
(d) What are the criteria of transferring an officer?



 
  (d) According to Government Instructions, Officers should be transferred after completion of a minimum period of 3 years in the same place of posting. Only in exceptional circumstances, they can be transferred with the prior approval of the Chief Minister.

Stray Dogs

(a) Whether the Government is aware of the dangers posed by stray dogs?   (a) Yes, Sir.
 
(b) What action the Government is taking in this regard?

 
  (b) Sir, actions are being taken, the Municipal Boards in accordance with the provisions of Section 258 of Meghalaya Municipal Act, 1973.

Departmental Vehicle

(a) When was the Departmental Vehicle allotted to the Housing Inspector, South Garo Hills, Baghmara?
 
  (a) Sir, the Departmental vehicle for South Garo Hills, Baghmara have not been allotted to Housing Inspector as yet.
(b) Whether the Vehicle is still being used by the Department?   (b) No, Sir.
(c) If not, the reasons thereof?   (c) Sir, does not arise in view of the above.

Water Sources in Laban

(a) Whether the Public Health Engineering Department has taken over the water sources in Laban area from the Shillong Municipality?   (a) No, Sir.

 
(b) What action has been taken till date?
 
  (b) The matter is under correspondence with Shillong Municipal Board.
(c) If not taken over, whether the Department is having plans for taking over in near future?   (c) Yes, Sir.
 

Members of J.G.S.Y.

(a) What are the criteria for selection of members of J.G.S.Y?












 
  (a) Sir, there is a Block Selection Committee (BSC) in each Block for approving schemes of Jawahar Gram Samridhi Yojana (JGSY) and Indira Awaas Yojana (IAY). The criteria for selection of the members of Block Selection Committee are as follows :-
(i) Three official members namely Block Development Officer (Convener), Representative of DRDA and Senior Gram Sevak.
(ii) Fifteen Non-official members of which three will be Women and twelve other members will be selected from amongst heads of traditional tribal institutions of the State.
(iii) The Chiarman of the Block Selection Committee is a Non-official nominated by Government.
(b) The total number of J.G.S.Y. members in each Block?

 
  (b) The total number of Block Selection Committee members in each Block is 19 (nineteen), including the Chairman, Sir.
(c) Whether the Department strictly adheres to the laid down norms?   (c) Yes, Sir.
