Flood Victims

(a) Whether Government has given any financial assistance to the Flood Victims during the recent flood that occurred on 10th October, 2003?   (a) Yes, Sir.

 
(b) Whether any other assistance has been given to the Flood Victims of the Pynthorumkhrah Areas?   (b) Sanction has been issued.
 
(c) If so, how much assistance has been given and distributed by way of cash or kind to each affected families?   (c) Proposal submitted by the Deputy Commissioner is placed on the Table of the House.
 
(d) If not, the reason thereof?   (d) Does not arise.
(e) The measures Government has taken to permanently solve/prevent the occurrence of the annual flood at Pynthorumkhrah Area?   (e) The long term preventive measures are under consideration by the concerned Departments.
 

Tura Civil Hospital

Musical Fountain

Post Matric Scholarship

  (a) Sir, the post Matric Scholarship to Scheduled Tribe students during 2002-2003 could not be released in time due to late receipt of sanction form the Government of India?
(b) The amount on the budget earmarked for the students annually?
 
  (b) The Budget provision for Post Matric Scholarship under Centrally Sponsored Scheme for the year 2003-2004 is Rs.502 lakhs.

Creation of Post of Dy. Director Tourism

(c) If so, the location of the office functioning in Tura?   (c) Does not arise in view of (b) above.

Slum Areas in Shillong City

(a) The number of areas in Shillong City being declared as Slum Areas?   (a)  Sir, 19 localities have been declared as Slum Areas in Shillong City.
(b) The steps taken by the Government for their improvement?   (b) Sir, physical amenities have been provided in these areas for improving the environmental conditions.
(c) Whether there is any Central Scheme for its development?
 
  (c) Sir, under the Centrally assisted, National Slum Development Programme (NSDP), physical and social inputs are being provided in these areas.

Sir, the new Meghalaya House premises at Kasba, Kolkata was occupied during 2001 in anticipation of receipt of completion report from K.M.C. The completion Report has since been obtained from K.M.C. during October, 2003.

New Shillong Township Project

  (a) Sir, the total area of land acquired by the Government for the New Shillong Township project is 250.15 hectares.
(b) The amount spent for this project?

 
  (b) Sir, the total amount spent for the project is Rs.19,68,73,033.00 (Rupees Nineteen crore sixty eight lakh seventy three thousand and thirty three) only.

(b) If so, the steps being taken to rectify this anomaly?



 
(b) Approval of the Kolkata Electric Supply Corporation for segregating domestic power supply connection from the main commercial connection has been obtained recently and measures to segregate the domestic connection are being taken, Sir.

Functioning of Street Light

(a) Whether Government is aware that Street Lights within the Municipal area are not functioning properly?   (a) Yes Sir. The Department is aware that there are few Street Light points which are not functional.
(b) Whether Government has taken up any fresh proposal for new Street Light within the urban area?   (b) No Sir.
 
(c) The nodal department for providing Street Light in Shillong under Municipal area?
 
  (c) Sir, the Urban Affairs Department is the nodal Department for providing Street Light in Shillong Municipal area.

Construction of Building

(a) The purpose for construction a huge building just behind the Tura Orchid Lodge in Tura and 3(three) buildings on the road side at Anogre.   (a) The huge building is a Yatriniwas meant for accommodation of tourists. The 3(three) buildings were meant for staff quarters.
(b) Whether Government is aware of the wastage of public money by not making those buildings operational for last many years?   (b) The Government is taking steps to make these buildings operational.
 
(c) Whether Government is contemplating to make them operational?   (c) Same as (b) above.
 
(d) If so, when?   (d) As soon as the matter is finalised.
