(a) Whether it is a fact that Agriculture production and the link processing have a very large potential for sustaining the demand for labour and improving the quality of employment?

 

(a) So far Agriculture produces are concerned the potential for processing is not very large, Sir.

(b) If so, the measure the department adopted to achieve structural changes in the pattern of growth of Agriculture ?

 

(b) Does not arise in view of (a) above.

Sir, the Arbitration proceeding between M/S Asian Housing Construction Limited and the Government of Meghalaya is going on. Meanwhile efforts are being made for an Out-of Court settlement.

(a) The number of Schemes prepare by different departments and submitted to the Ministry of DONER, Government of India for according necessary sanction ?

 

(a) Sir, for the period 1998-1999 to 2004-2005, 909 (ninety nine( schemes have been submitted. For the year 2005-2006, 58 schemes have been submitted.

(b) The name of such schemes and estimated amount of each scheme ?

 

(b) Two Statements as in Annexure-A and Annexure-B showing the names of schemes and their estimated costs for the period 1998-1999 to 2004-2005 and for the 2005-2006 respectively are placed on the Table of the House.

Loan from Central Bank of India

(a) The amount of Loan taken by MeSEB from Central Bank of India ?

 

(a) Sir, MeSEB has availed a Short Term Loan of Rs.45.00 Crores from the Central Bank of India during 2003-04.

(b) The purpose for using the Loan ?

 

(b) The entire Loan has been utilized to repay the high interest bearing loan from LIC of India against a package for a One Time settlement of outstanding dues.

Control and Regulatory measures on agricultural products

Growth of unemployment

(a) The growth of unemployment with the present employment elasticity at the end of the financial year?


 

(a) The total number of unemployed at the end of financial year 2003 as per the live register of employment exchanges in the State was 35805. For the financial year ending 2004, it was 35783. therefore, the total number of unemployed people as per live register declined by 22.

(b) If the growth is higher, the factors responsible, whether socio-economic or political ground ?

 

(b) No such study has been conducted by the Labour Department so far.
