(a) Whether there is any decision regarding conferring the Khasi and Garo languages the status of Official Language in the State?

(a) Yes, Sir. Khasi & Garo Languages have been recognized and notified as Associate Official Languages of the State.

(b) If so, when?



(b) The Meghalaya State Language Act, 2005 received the assent of the Governor on the 1st May, 2005 and published in the Gazette of Meghalaya Extra Ordinary issued dated 4th May, 2005. Copy of the Notification is placed on the Table of the House.

Allotment of Land

(a) Whether the Government has allotted a plot of land at Morello Compound Shillong to Seng Pynduh Kiad?

(a) Yes, Sir, land was allotted to Seng Pynduh Kiad by Government in the year, 1981.

(b) The terms and conditions on which the land was allotted?

(b) Normal terms and condition. A copy of the existing Lease Agreement with terms and conditions therein is placed on the Table of the House.
